ESPN's Jeremy Fowler says that the Green Bay Packers are still "a little bit stubborn" in trade talks with the New York Jets about Aaron Rodgers.
"[Green Bay] wants a high-quality package of draft picks in exchange for [Rodgers], likely over a number of years," Fowler said. "The Jets have just been unwilling up to this point to go that far."
He also said that the Jets and Packers "made a little bit of progress" at the NFL league meeting in March, but since then, not much has changed.
Fowler said that one thing they are still talking about is how to protect any draft money tied to Rodgers' future in the NFL.
Rodgers wants to leave Green Bay and play for the Jets, which everyone knows. The problem is that both teams think—and rightly so—that they can set the rules and make the other team work for it.
At this point, it's hard to see how Rodgers and the Packers can get back on track. The team needs to move on from Aaron Rodgers and make Jordan Love its main quarterback.
The Jets, on the other hand, don't really have a plan B if this trade doesn't work out. At this point, there aren't many free agents, and making a deal for Lamar Jackson isn't as easy as it sounds.
