San Francisco 49ers quarterback decision appears to be made. Jimmy Garoppolo left San Francisco for the Raiders this off-season. Many believe the 49ers will deal Trey Lance with two quarterbacks. The team isn't facilitating those dialogues.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided a major Trey Lance deal report. Rapoport stated that the 49ers received trade inquiries for the former first-round pick. Not vice-versa.
“Several teams have contacted the #49ers about trading for former No. 3 pick QB Trey Lance. Rapoport said SF has fielded calls, not made them, with teams aware that Brock Purdy is likely the future starter.
Rapoport added that no trade is imminent. League teams are interested.
“While no trade is imminent, and the #49ers would almost certainly want to ensure Brock Purdy’s rehab continues as smoothly as it’s been going, the interest from other teams in Lance has been there,” Rapoport tweeted.
Trey Lance has played eight games for the 49ers since his 2021 draft. Lance has 797 yards and 54.9 percent completion. Five touchdowns, two interceptions. Lance's knee ailment sidelined him for much of 2022.
Despite his lack of experience, organizations may take a chance on him due to his talent and rookie deal. The Trey Lance deal shook the NFL.
