On Tuesday, NFL Network source Tom Pelissero claimed that Pittsburgh is finalizing a deal for Los Angeles veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson.
Pelissero says the Steelers can invite Robinson in for a physical. Robinson will return to Pennsylvania if the Steelers are satisfied with the exam.
Before joining the league, Robinson excelled for Penn State. The 29-year-old played for the Jaguars, Bears, and Rams since then.
Robinson would give second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett a veteran option if the Steelers acquire him. Robinson would join wide receivers Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Calvin Austin III, and Anthony Miller on the depth chart.
According to ESPN NFL analyst Adam Schefter, Robinson is guaranteed $15 million this season, $5 million of which the Rams have already paid. Schefter expects the Steelers will pay Robinson some of the $10 million remaining.
Robinson caught 33 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games last season.
Robinson has 528 receptions, 6,748 yards, and 43 touchdowns. Robinson's experience might help the Steelers and Pickett.
