Jayson Tatum Scores 51 as Celtics Beat Sixers in Game 7.

The Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference finals, where they will play the Miami Heat, thanks in large part to the record-breaking number of points scored by Tatum in Game 7.

— Boston Jaylen Brown used his public platform to deliver a clear message to the Celtics supporters before the game on Sunday afternoon: Shout as loud as you can.

He said that during the team's home games against the Philadelphia 76ers in the National Basketball Association Eastern Conference semifinal series, the atmosphere at TD Garden had been just OK.

For Sunday's Game 7, Brown was successful in getting what he wanted. Both when I arrived early and when I left, it was very loud. The crowd erupted in applause for each dunk, 3-pointer, defensive stop, and offensive rebound.

Late in the fourth quarter, as his career-best performance came to a close, Boston's Jayson Tatum stood close to the center circle and pleaded with the crowd to make even louder noise.

He was finishing up his career's best game and a masterful performance at that time. They were happy to help in any way.

The crowd was still clapping for the Celtics as they left the court after winning 112-88. With this victory, the best-of-seven series was over and Boston was still in with a shot at the championship.

Tatum, who had not exactly been a model of consistency throughout the series, was exceptional on Sunday, setting an NBA record for a Game 7 performance with 51 points.

. Despite not playing flawless basketball, Tatum was selected for the All-NBA first team. Brown scored 25 points in the victory. At one point, the Celtics led by as many as 30 points.
