Smith's old school, West Rowan in Mount Ulla, North Carolina, sent out a tweet Monday about his death.
There was no information about the cause of death.

In his eight-year career, he played for the Jaguars, Bengals, Browns, Raiders, and Texans.
During that time, he had 11 sacks and 80 stops.
