De'Aaron Fox spent the first five years of his NBA career on losing Sacramento Kings teams and didn't get much attention.
But things changed this season. Fox got to go to the All-Star game, and the Kings made it into the postseason.
Fox played in his first playoff game on Saturday night. He made it in style.
The Kings and the Golden State Warriors went back and forth in an epic battle. Steph Curry missed a three-point shot that would have tied the game, giving Sacramento a 126-123 win.
As you might guess, Fox was a big part of the reason. He finished with 38 points, which was the most in the game. He also had five assists and three steals.
The 38 points were tied for the second-most by a player making their first playoff appearance in NBA history, behind only Luka Doncic.
And in the first few minutes of the game, nothing showed that he would do that. The Warriors kept Fox in check for the first half, and he only scored nine points in the first two minutes.
But, as he has done all season, Fox got better as the game went on. In the third quarter, he scored 14 points, and in the fourth, he scored 15 points.
