The Dallas Cowboys have more room in their salary cap now that the preseason is almost over.
Field Yates of ESPN says that the Cowboys have changed how Ezekiel Elliott's deal works.
They turned $8.6 million of his base pay of $9.6 million into a bonus for signing with the team.
Elliott, who was chosen fourth overall in 2016, has a deal with the Cowboys until 2026. In September 2019, he signed a six-year, $90 million deal.
Last season, the 26-year-old played in 15 games and ran for 979 yards and 6 touchdowns.
He also caught 52 passes for 338 yards and 2 touchdowns. Elliott had a bad year, but the Cowboys as a whole also didn't have a great 2020 season.
