This season, the Dallas Cowboys made a lot of changes to their approach, and some of the changes were big.
There were some big names from Dallas, like offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and tight end Dalton Schultz, but running back Ezekiel Elliott might have been the most famous.
The Cowboys decided to let him go because his contract was going to cost them $16.7 million.
Dalvin Cook could be the Cowboys' choice to replace Ezekiel Elliott. Barnwell said that the Cowboys could look into Cook.
Cook has been talked about in trade talks since the end of the season. Longtime players like wide receiver Adam Thielen and linebacker Eric Kendricks left the Vikings during the summer.
For the 2023 season, Cook will cost $14 million against the pay cap. Not to mention that the team gave Alexander Mattison a $7 million deal for another two years.
Cook does add name value to the position of running back. Not only that, but he has been picked for the Pro Bowl for four years in a row.
Cook ran for 1,173 yards and eight scores on 264 carries in 17 games last season. But the 4.4 yards per run he averaged were the least of any season in his career.
