A great defensive player from West Rowan High School who went on to play in the NFL passed away.
Chris Smith, who is 31 years old and from Salisbury, finished from West Rowan High School in 2010 and was a star defensive end on the team.
Smith played football for the Razorbacks at the University of Arkansas for four years.
The Jacksonville Jaguars then picked Smith in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Smith spent three years with the Jaguars.
From 2018 to 2021, Smith also played for the Cleveland Browns, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Houston Texans.
He signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2020, but he never played in a game.
