Tuesday was the first game of a three-game set in The Bronx. The Los Angeles Angels beat the New York Yankees 5-2. Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge,
the last two American League MVPs, played against each other in this game. Ohtani won the Most Valuable Player award for the American League in 2021. He is currently in the last year of his deal with the Angels
and will be a free agent at the end of the season. Judge, who will be the most valuable player in the American League in 2022, just went through free agency and re-signed with the Yankees.
Judge was asked about Ohtani's soon-to-be-free-agent status. He gave a vague reply. Ohtani is not going to start in this series against the Yankees.
But on Tuesday, he put on a show for Judge, the Yankees, and everyone at Yankee Stadium. He only got one hit out of three, but he scored two runs and hit a two-run homer in the first inning.
Will Ohtani play for the Yankees in 2024? When Judge said that, baseball fans had different views about it.
Ohtani will get a pretty penny (or a lot of pretty pennies) in free agency because he is so good as both a hitter and a pitcher.
One of the few teams with enough money to sign him is the New York Yankees. But they won't be the only ones on their quest.
