The NCAA transfer site is now a normal part of college sports. But Saturday was a very bad day for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.
Not one, not two, not three, not four, but five CU players were taken by the site. And about half of the day has passed.
Dylan Dixson, Keyshon Mills, and Nikko Reed, all defensive backs, Jayle Stacks, a running back, and Austin Smith, a tight end, all left Colorado. Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports wrote about all of the changes.
Dixson played in two games for the 1-11 Buffaloes as a rookie last year. He made three stops all together.
Nikko Reed was one of the five players who helped the team the most. Reed has helped the Buffaloes on defense and special teams for the last two years.
As a freshman, he made a total of seven stops and picked off one pass. Reed also scored a goal by returning a kick 100 yards.
In 2022, Smith played in seven games. The tight end, who is only a sophomore and has three more years to play, caught one pass for a four-yard score.
With five transfers leaving, CU loses nothing but depth, if anything. In the world of CFB in 2023, this is how things are. Deion Sanders and Colorado will have to make changes and quickly find people to fill the scholarship spots.
