The New York Jets have been warned that the Green Bay Packers hold the advantage in the Aaron Rodgers trade, as an agreement has yet to be reached.
Rodgers, 39, announced his intention to play for the Jets on The Pat McAfee Show last month; however, a transfer agreement between the two franchises has yet to be finalized. A deadline for the completion of a deal has not been established, but in order for the Packers to acquire immediate assistance for new quarterback Jordan Love, a deal must be reached prior to the NFL Draft.
Colleen Wolfe asked NFL Insider Scott Pioli on Tuesday's "Good Morning Football" who, in his opinion, has more leverage in the impending trade negotiations. The Packers have the most leverage in the trade negotiation, according to Pioli.
Pioli credits Rodgers' participation on The Pat McAfee Show with the Packers' turnaround. Pioli stated the Green Bay Packers have the most leverage right now.
That happened during Aaron Rodgers' State of the Union address on Pat McAfee. He gave everything to the Packers because he told the world he wasn't going to be there and didn't want to be there.”
“The Jets publicly want him,” Pioli said. Take him. He's everywhere. Packers think, "Okay, these two twos might be great, but I might be able to get more." Pioli believes the Jets must honor the deal since Rodgers' Packers tenure is gone. Jets cannot leave.
