Five-star recruit arrested on felony gun charges

Mikey Williams, a five-star recruit who has agreed to play for the Memphis Tigers, was apparently arrested in his home city of San Diego on Thursday on multiple felony charges.

Several sources say that Williams was caught on five counts of felony assault with a gun. He was freed early Friday morning after posting bail of $50,000.

In a statement released Friday morning, the University of Memphis said, "We are aware of the situation and are gathering more information."

There were no details about what led to the arrest, but LocalMemphis.com says Williams was taken in Jamul, California, in the 2600 block of Bratton Valley Road.

If Williams is found guilty, he will have to spend at least six months in county jail for each charge. He will likely go to court for the first time on April 20.
