Kemp faces first-degree assault charges. On May 4, the 52-year-old former NBA great will plead not guilty to the accusations in his case, his lawyers say.
“He has been entirely forthcoming with the police and the prosecutor's office throughout this process,” Kemp's lawyers stated.
He believes the jury will find him justified in defending himself that afternoon after hearing the witnesses and seeing the proof.
Tacoma police arrested Kemp on March 8 after shots were fired in a mall parking lot. The Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office released the former Sonics player the following day after deciding not to charge him awaiting an investigation.
He was charged with first-degree assault and weapons enhancement on Friday.
